4-Channel Multivariate Coherence Training

by Dr. Robert Coben

At our practice, we leverage 4-Channel Multivariate Coherence Training, a highly advanced neurofeedback method developed by Dr. Robert Coben. This technique is designed to improve brain connectivity by addressing not just individual brainwave frequencies, but the coherence—synchronization—between multiple regions of the brain.

Unlike traditional two-channel neurofeedback, which can lead to incomplete or inaccurate readings, this system monitors four EEG channels simultaneously. It provides a more accurate measure of how different brain areas work together, promoting better alignment and long-lasting improvements.

Guided by 32-Channel qEEG for Precision

To deliver the most precise training possible, we use a 32-channel quantitative EEG (qEEG) brain map to guide treatment. This allows us to analyze brain function with much greater detail than the more commonly used 19-channel qEEG system. The additional data points help us identify subtle patterns of dysregulation and target specific areas with precision, ensuring a personalized and optimized neurofeedback experience for each client.

What Makes 4-Channel Coherence Training Unique?

Enhanced Coherence

This method focuses on synchronizing brain activity across multiple regions, improving brain regulation and function.

Multivariate Calculations

Using four EEG channels allows for richer data, reducing inaccuracies and providing a more comprehensive view of brain connectivity.

Superior Precision

The use of a 32-channel qEEG brain map allows for a more detailed understanding of brain function, leading to highly targeted interventions.

How the Training Works

During a session, sensors are placed on the scalp to monitor brain activity. Our software analyzes coherence between the four channels in real-time and provides feedback through audio or visual cues. With each session, the brain is gently guided toward more balanced connectivity patterns, reinforcing neuroplastic changes that improve mental and emotional functioning.

Benefits of Multivariate Coherence Training

Greater Efficacy

Studies show up to 400% improvement in coherence values compared to two-channel systems, leading to more robust and lasting brain changes.

Broad Applications

This approach addresses a wide range of challenges, including developmental trauma, ADHD, depression, and seizure disorders

Long-Lasting Results

The neuroplastic changes facilitated by this training extend well beyond the treatment period, supporting sustainable improvements in well-being
